A large heron sits on the pilings before the B.C. ferry arriving from Saltery Bay.

The Saltery Bay car ferry approaches the dock. This is one of the many ferries in B.C. These ferries are an inexpensive restful way of travel, allowing the passenger to enjoy the view from the comfort of inside the lounge or cafeteria, or out on deck where a fresh wind blows off the sea.

Ivan and Evi not only act as host, but enjoy showing visiting students the magical scenery, the abundant wildlife, and the joys of travel in a smaller boat. On this trip we saw several dolphins, a rare sandy beach on Savary Island, and many sea birds.

Relaxing on Cortes, after scrambling up the rocks where the boat landed. This is a great view point for log booms that pass (tug boats that pull huge quantities of timber), distant mountains with glistening white glaciers, sail boats and pleasure crafts, and local wildlife such as squirrels, deer, and raccoons!

A meal at the round table at Evi's house in Gibsons. The table seats 12 and is a wonderful place for English conversation, great food, and enjoying the view. Evi and Ivan both worked as professional cooks and delight in preparing lovely food for guests. Some of Evi's tours includes an "in house" meal where everyone enjoys the ambience and relaxing environment!
